This Wednesday we will be running a Van Society Race Night. The night will consist of a playlist of new races that will cover every class of road vehicle in GTA. To level the playing field a little the most OP cars from each class will be banned, for example no Pariahs to be used when racing Sports Class. On Wednesday 1st May 2019 we will be taking on XDBX for a friendly but competitive racenight. The playlist will be a mixture of land races, stunt races, sea and air races. We will race 8 jobs on the night with each crew putting forward 4 jobs each. The selection will be 3 Land/Stunt Races and 1 Air/Sea Races from each crew. This weeks Van Society Midweek Motorsport event will a Top Gear 'Reasonably Priced Car' night featuring the Maibatsu Penumbra. Stock Car Auto Racing will be a night of racing featuring the Hotring Sabre and the Drift Tampa on a variety of user made jobs. Inspired by Top Gear/Grand Tour budgeted challenges, you have a generous budget of $150,000 to buy any car you like to tackle the countryside of San Andreas. However, there are a couple of catches to make this a little more challenging. Your car cannot: Be in the Off-Road or SUV Class. Wednesday 20th February at 20:00 GMT we will host the Top Gear Class War: Sports. This event will run like an old skool Top Gear Challenge pitting the cars of the Sports Class against each other. Each player will pick one car from the Sports Class and stick with that car all night. Your car will be tested on value, style, speed, acceleration, braking and racing so choose wisely. Your cars can be fully modded on the night, however Off-Road tyres will be banned (Catman!). The Pariah, Itali GTO & Comet SR will all be banned to level the playing field a little. Let The Sunshine In (2017) dir Claire Denis Juliette Binoche plays Parisian artist Isabelle, looking for her ideal man after a divorce. That makes it sound like a romantic comedy, but it isn't. There's no real romance and although not to be taken too seriously it's not exactly full of jokes either. Isabelle basically tries out various lovers who all fail to live up to expectation on some level; such as the wealthy married man who only calls when it suits him or the younger man who decides he just wants to be friends. Interwoven between these scenes we learn a bit more about who Isabelle is, what she does for a job, meet a few of her friends etc. Binoche is very good, as always, most of the rest of the cast are OK. I did start to get a little bored after about halfway through. There was very little chemistry between the actors, which I guess was deliberate since she was never finding the right man. But right at the end it did step up. The very final scene is great. Isabelle goes to see a psychic, played by Gerard Depadieu. There follows a dialogue as they discuss her various lovers, with him kind of reviewing them. It's almost like she was seeing a therapist, until he brought out a “magic” pendulum type of thing and started making predictions of which ones might turn out to be the right man for her. The film actually ends at this scene plays out with the credits beginning whilst their conversation continues. I'm not sure if the intention of this was to make you watch the credits or maybe it was saying “you can stop watching now, there's nothing important left to see”. But whatever, it was an original bit of film making for me. 6 / 10- 2
