After @Fido_le_muet posted this link the other day, http://www.usgamer.net/articles/mapping-los-santos it reminded me of all the GTA V buildings and landmarks we helped to identify and discovered in real life.  In case you don't already know, Fido was one of the founding contributors to the Mapping Los Santos thread on the GTA Forums, which is about to turn 6 years old, and to date has a staggering 5.2 million views.  Here's the link to the thread. http://gtaforums.com/topic/491242-mapping-los-santos-buildinglandmark-analysis/

Some of you may have read parts of the thread or would probably know some of the more obvious real life places - like the Del Perro Pier or Maze Bank Tower etc - but nearly every building and landmark in the game has a real life counterpart, regardless of how insignificant it may seem.

I'll post some examples over the next few months.  Currently there are 1,175 identified buildings and landmarks, but I'll just concentrate on the ones that have a purpose in the game, like an MC Clubhouse, personal garage or a building that features in a contact mission etc.

If there's a particular building or landmark you'd like to see, just make a post in this thread and I'll try to post the IRL match. :)

To get started, here's the meth lab you can purchase as part of your MC business empire.  In the game, it's located just off Route 68 Harmony.  In real life (IRL) its located just off Route 66 in Daggett, California.  Here's the Google Streetview link.

Feeling nostalgic @no_snacks? :P    Me too...

Haha...I guess I am.  While doing a meth delivery for @Xyon14 the other day, I mentioned the Daggett garage to @Skorpion, @Braldy and @ScottyB.  Then I realised they probably have no idea what I'm talking about unless they've read the Mapping Los Santos thread.  Thought some folks here might appreciate seeing the real life inspirations for some familiar in-game buildings.  It does take me back to the pre-release times though.  It certainly was a lot of fun and I'll definitely be part of it again when GTA 6 is announced. :)

I was never a part of the mapping before the game was released, but am aware of the thread. I think it's awesome that they're all real buildings and look so accurate. I'll likely join the hunt when GTA 6 is announced :)
