Just watched Rogue One again last night and enjoyed it so much more than Ep7 that this teaser has not got me as hyped as usual...

Great seeing Poe D in action again though, I am sure the hype will build for me over the next few months.

Either that or the Disney effect is kicking in sooner than I thought and Star Wars is becoming run of the mill, regular as clockwork and milked to death a few years quicker than I expected.

I'm more hyped about the Han Solo film than Episode VIII. VII was a bit of a let down and I've got mixed feelings about the trailer so far. Love that they have included new generation AT-AT's but that scene from the trailer on the white dirt seems to be setting the film up as a Empire remake. I'm hoping they do not make the same mistake as the last one!

What practical need is there for the ships that hover to have some part of them dragging into the dirt? The original Star Wars films weren't cool just because they had fancy special effects and looked sparkly, they worked because they looked real and lived in and you could tell everything had a real purpose. Having a scene purely for a fancy visual effect just means its the same as any normal run of the mill sci-fi blockbuster these days.

I agree in principle with you.  But why does one have to come at the expense of the other?  A scene can be visually cool and still be quality material.  I have never seen a scene on TV or film and said "that scene was fantastic, but it looked cool so I don't like it."  The presence of fancy looks does not demand that it will be poor writing or a bad scene.  That will happen with or without the fanciness that is done in post production. We just have to hope it is well done, and I believe it will.  The worst star wars movie is better than a hell of a lot of other stuff out there.
