34:13. Thanks Proto for the setup info. I think it helped a lot but the steering was a little too sensitive. How can I change that?

I think it would be too confusing + long like an essay if I wrote it. There's several different settings that have an impact on steering. I'll talk you through it via party chat if you have time, perhaps today around the time of the M5 event? (Before/during/after) If not, some other day?

Same goes for everyone else - want to ask about the setups, setup process, I'd prefer to talk you through it in a party chat or via PM if you prefer. Would be much simpler for both of us and could try it out in the game at the same time as well. Feel free to hit me up with a msg or invite when you see me online. ;)

For what it's worth, I use default setup at most locations and in most cars.

I feel as though there's a lot more time to gain by nailing every corner before considering any changes. Since I've only ran a sighter on each stage for this league, default setup is better for me.

In a more serious league I'd grind the track and then look to get more from the car.

I'm either using a setup I've already tested in career mode or a setup I compile in shakedown at the start of the league event or when picking the tracks for an event.

In shakedown I usually realise quite fast what setting really doesn't go with my driving style and then in the following shakedown runs I tweak it as much as necessary.

Some default setups are pretty good and don't necessarily need changing, but others are quite off, at least to me.

There's just 38 hours left to run Event 2: Rally Finland, folks!

I noticed no one has run it so far, so I highly recommend finding the 30ish minutes for this event within the next 38 hours, because it is a fun fast event with a ton of jumps and you don't want to miss it! I'll get it done within the next 24 hours myself.

When it comes to the results of Rally Sweden, I have to say I noticed that I had the same problem in the end as Beez: nothing wrong with the setup I shared, but the steering sensitivity settings were off. My steering ended up being too twitchy as well, hence the numerous spins you'll see in the video below. The twitchiness is even noticeable in the video in some cases. After I had run the event, I went to test the steering sensitivity settings and... sure enough, as soon as I changed Steering Linearity from 40 to 50, the twitchiness was gone. If only I had changed it during the event. Damn. If any of you are also feeling that the steering is way too sensitive, increase the Linearity setting until you're happy with the result. (Pause Menu -> Options -> Controls -> Advanced Settings -> Steering Linearity)

Tips for Finland:

  • Trees are your car's enemies - avoid crashing into them at all costs!
  • Take considerable caution when heading for a crest which is followed by a sharp turn - going too fast can end your rally instantly.
  • Don't forget to brake early enough that you don't slide into something you don't want to.
  • Landing the big jumps smoothly is key to keeping your car in good health in Finland.

My setup for the Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Finland (text+video):

Nr = amount of ticks/clicks       + = to the right from default setting      - = to the left from default setting

(NOT MENTIONING THE SETTINGS THAT REMAIN AT DEFAULT)

Brake Bias -2

Viscous Differential (Front) +3

Viscous Differential (Centre): Torque Bias +2

Suspension (Front): Anti-Roll Bar -2

Damping (Front): Bump -2, Fast Bump -1, Rebound -2, Fast Rebound -1

Suspension (Rear): Anti-Roll Bar -2

Damping (Rear): Bump -2, Fast Bump -1, Rebound -2, Fast Rebound -1

I'm really sorry @Protocawl but I just don't have enough free time to participate.  I really like the game but when I do have time I still find myself playing GTA.

However please keep me in mind for any one off racing events. Preferably on the weekends.  I'd be glad to join! :)

All done too.  Finland was a lot of fun, it felt like a rollercoaster at times, what with all the crest jumps.

I saved a couple of videos.  First stage 4 where I took a trouser-browning shortcut through the trees just before the second split, but went pretty cleanly apart from that.

And stage 6, again it was a pretty clean run apart from one crash.

Finished with 3 punctures and a lot of accidents. I gotta go easy on the pedal next time...

My ABS is off btw dc.

At least you finished?

I was doing fine until I clipped something at the start of stage 3. Then went head on in some tree stumps... Wheel off, terminal damage?

Bye Finland

Ah man! Not again!?

I was doing really well in MC....

In the 3rd stage I go slightly on a sand bump. I balance on it and then fall over the other side, with 0.5 mph. And then I see its a small bridge?

I tip over, drop down, and tadaaaaaa! Terminal damage...?

I know I know, I think I have to change my approach...or accept the pure lack of talent?

Video of Rally Finland:

3 & a half days left until the end of Event 3: Rally Monte Carlo!

@Beez@Dodge@Hatch@Con@DavidCore89@Schumi6581@PapOiteE@Crawford1872@LimeGreenLegend@Road2fury1583070461@Lann@ErnYoung

Tips for Monte Carlo:

  • Watch out for snow and ice! Drive slower if necessary, brake earlier if necessary, but don't underestimate the slippery surface. If you're about to slide into a wall or off the edge in a sharp turn on snow or ice, tap the handbrake to keep yourself from crashing badly - touch the barriers with the rear if you have to, but not the front.
  • Avoid crashing into anything nose first in general: best case - you lose valuable time, worst case - you slide over an edge and end your rally (this can easily happen). When about to crash into a barrier/snow bank with the front of the car, use the handbrake to point the nose away from the barrier/bank, towards the road.
  • Since Rally Monte Carlo is probably the 2nd easiest-to-total-one's-car rally (behind Greece), you can try to cheat "death" by opening the options menu just before the moment of the fatal crash and choose the "Recover Vehicle" (or smth like that) option if it's available to reset the car on the road with a 15sec penalty. (sorry, @Schumi6581, you can try this next time; I only just thought it might be an option, yet to try it myself)
  • Lower Ride Height settings will help avoid sliding over the snow banks and small bridge barriers.

Gears -4

Suspension (Front): Ride Height -3, Spring Rate +5

Damping (Front): Bump +2, Fast Bump +2, Rebound +2, Fast Rebound +2

Suspension (Rear): Ride Height -3, Spring Rate +5

Damping (Rear): Bump +2, Fast Bump +2, Rebound +2, Fast Rebound +2
