So footage on the vehicle setup teachings will come at a later date, but I'll give you the quick basics of it in writing (reading the in-game description of each setting will also explain it quite well):

Brake Bias - If your car acts all twitchy or you tend to lose the rear end too easily under heavy braking, that means you'll probably need to move the brake bias more towards the front to make it more stable under braking into turns, but also make steering less responsive while braking and turning. If you keep going wide while braking into turns and feel the steering is not responsive enough, you'll have to move the brake bias more towards the rear to make the car more loose while braking and turning. If you move the bias too far from the middle, your wheels will lock under braking and you'll become a passenger - make sure to avoid that.

Front Differential - If you're facing a very fast, high-grip surface (tarmac) with mostly straights and not that many (sharp) corners, then you can loosen the front diff to increase your car's traction and stability. If it's twisty roads and/or loose surface (dirt, gravel) you're facing with lots of corners and few straights, strengthening the front diff will improve your cornering capabilities. If it's anything in between, leaving it close to 50-50 can work best.

Rear Differential - If you need more traction, strengthen the rear diff; if you need better cornering capabilities at speed, loosen the rear diff.

Gears - When facing twisty roads with lots of corners/sharp turns and few straights, shorten your gear ratios to improve acceleration. When facing high-speed roads and/or few/fast corners, lengthen the gear ratios to improve top speed.

Suspension (Front/Rear) - The bumpier the road, the softer the setting should be; the smoother the road, the firmer the setting can be set, but doesn't have to be. Suspension usually needs less tweaking than dampers.

Damping (Front/Rear) - Similarly to suspension, when facing very bumpy and jumpy roads, soften the dampers; when facing smooth tarmac surface, set dampers to as firm as you want.

That is also the order of importance, as in changing Brake Bias makes the biggest difference in changes to car behaviour, diffs come next, then gears, and finally suspension and damping affect the behaviour of your car the least of those, but still noticeably.

Also, make sure to read the in-game descriptions of these settings and make good use of Shakedowns to try out your setup changes! If you find the perfect setup for certain conditions for a certain car, don't forget to save the setups! ;)

At one point on stage 2 I ran into something that stopped me. Just as I was backing up the game reset me and gave me a 15 sec penalty. If it just let me get going again I would not have lost as much time. :( Still had fun though. Then I did Finland in my Fiat Abarth and got 2nd in Career mode.

Yeah, the time penalties are brutal and sometimes make no sense in the first place. But the cleaner you get with your rallying, the less you'll have to deal with those eventually.

Hello hello fellow rally fans can anyone send me a link so I can join the domestic battery League?

Haven't got dirt 4 yet but by the sounds of it it's not really that good but I hear it is a control on a controller how many you guys use a controller as well is there anyone who uses steering wheel?

Make sure you're signed in and have your platform set to PS4 as well. Once you're signed in, go to that link and search for "XDBX Casual" and join. :)

I'm using a controller for everything right now. No extra cash for a proper wheel set yet and I don't see much point in buying the cheapest ones either.

T150 isn't bad for racing on a budget. I have one as I've had my T300 replaced a couple of times and didn't wanna be without in the meantime. Probably 120 pounds. Was quite decent on DiRT Rally.

Some guys use the T80 as it has no distracting forces, just a basic bungee cord. Probably 50 pounds.

It doesn't need to cost a months rent ;)

Post some videos!

The prices are almost double around here. If I can find something online that'll cost me less than local, I'll probably get a T150. Not sure about the T80...

There's a handful of rally videos on my YT channel, but I'll try and get more uploaded soon.

Nevermind. This is all Event 3. I did miss Event 2.

Not to worry, the first season is more of a test run anyway. Plenty of things learned already about setting one up properly. Next season will be smoother in terms of how it's run.

Just finished playing dirt rally trying to upgrade some of my cars did the last event. in Wales I was going alright but I know that stage which is the first one there's a square right on the last sector (same corner that @Dodge)  think and I lost about 10 seconds there silly mistake of breaking too late good fun but slamming on handbrake hoping to make the corner
