Well that's career mode cars on, you should be able to pick whatever from the class, provided it's off.

Cars that aren't stock have a massive advantage.

I thought I had the mini at first, but had to buy it too in the end for this. I'll leave personal cars off in the future, but buying the Mini wasn't that bad. After all, it's cheap and can be quite fun to drive.

Test season/season 1 has ended now and the final leaderboard looks like this:

  1. Proto - 58 Pts
  2. Fury - 50 Pts
  3. Dodge - 42 Pts
  4. Beez - 36 Pts

I'll set up the next season tomorrow and it will have stock car(s), it'll be longer with more stages per event and there will be more time to finish each event. More details on that once I've set the season up.

My last event of the test season went down the drain and here's the footage of that and a bit more from our first season:

Event 2, Greece, Stage 2: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/205326781

Event 3, Wales, Stage 1 & 2: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/205327780

Can't wait to start our 1st proper season! :)

I just managed to beat @Dodge  in the last event but we both (I watched his video youtube) went off at the same square right on the last stage but I had upgraded car I'm not sure if he had to upgrade one too

The new season has been set up now.

This one consists of 4 events: Germany (3 stages), Wales (5 stages), Finland (6 stages), Sweden (4 snow stages).

We'll be using the stock F2 Kit Cars, which means a choice between the Seat Ibiza Kit Car and the Peugeot 306 Maxi Kit Car.

You can usually expect a service area & tuning break after every pair of stages. There will also be progress saving possibilities before the last Germany stage, before most stages in Wales, before stage 3 & 5 in Finland, before every stage in Sweden (if it works as it should).

There will be 1 event each weekend for 4 weeks in a row and you'll have 3 to 3 and a half days to complete the stages for each event. 1st event starts tomorrow.

Event 1 - Rally Germany: 06:00/6am UTC Dec 1 - 06:00/6am UTC Dec 4

Event 2 - Rally Wales: 06:00/6am UTC Dec 8 - 06:00/6am UTC Dec 11

Event 3 - Rally Finland: 14:00/2pm UTC Dec 14 - 06:00/6am UTC Dec 18

Event 4 - Rally Sweden: 20:00/8pm UTC Dec 21 - 06:00/6am UTC Dec 25

Seeing that Dodge is playing from 3rd person view, I also felt like it would be fair to mention that unless any of you actually hate 1st person, I recommend using or at least trying FPV out, since it's just better to drive that way in almost every way. It's definitely a lot easier to "feel" the car and control it in 1st person, for me at least.

I’ll only be playing using vr.  You can play third person in vr, which is really weird, but I’ll be doing it all first person.  Not gonna expect everyone to play in first person though, whatever you all prefer is cool with me :)

I'll try it, but I'm an old school gamer and 3rd person is how I learned to drive in games.

3rd person was how I learned to rally on Colin McRae 2.0 when I wasn’t old enough to write my own name legibly (not that I can now mind)

its better for the first few times till you get a good look at the stages and then maybe 1st person after that

I've also raced only in 3rd person in most of the racing games I've ever played, including Colin McRae Rally 2005 and GTA V, but once I tried 1st person in GT5, NFS: Shift 2 and the newest rally and racing games, I started preferring that where possible. Makes it much more immersive and gives better control over the cars. I don't have a problem using one in some games and the other in other games, though.

Germany videos.

I tried 1st person view until the big spin out. Just couldn't handle it. Sorry the replay on this one and the next suck.

Lost my lights on the crash about half way through. That made things a bit more interesting.

Hood cam is best in DiRT IMO, you can better judge your entry angle, especially during slides, think I uploaded some videos ages ago.

Cockpit view sucks in this game, wheel rotation doesn't match mine and sense of speed seems off.

1 day 13hrs to go until the start of Event 2 - Welsh Rally.

In other news: DiRT Rally is on sale on the EU/UK PS Store for just £12.49 until December 23!

@Protocawlhow do I set this up in a single event so I can practice all stages?

Under Custom Championships I believe.

I'll check it in a few hrs.

Custom championship is random stages deliberately so players can't earn credits on their favourite stages. Probably have to use time trial or the equivalent.

Sorry, a heist took too long last night, so didn't have time to check, but I did now.

Not sure about career custom championships, but those are irrelevant. When you start the game up, in the main menu there's "Custom Event" - choose that, then pick how many stages and exactly which ones and which weather settings you want to.
