The wheel has been spun and the winning category for September's film club is...

a1O2Sq1.jpg

As nominated by @djw180 we'll be watching a film in a language we've not yet covered.  So nominate any film you like as long as it's not in English, French, Norwegian, Korean or Japanese.

My film nomination is from Italy, Federico Fellini's La Strada.

The winner will be picked on Friday 🙂

Hodejegerne (Headhunters) based on a novel from one of my favorite writers, Jo Nesbø.

Edit: Oh wait… Not in Norwegian?

In that case I would like to nominate Der Untergang, one of the most impressive and realistic movies about WW2, ever made.

Red Cliff (2008, Mandarin)

Directed by John Woo it’s a historical Chinese War Epic featuring an actress who has just been in the news for being removed from history by China. I actually own the 5 hour version of this film but the theatrical version is fine for the film club.

The winner has been chosen for this month's international adventure...

From Italy, Federico Fellini's La Strada (The Road).

Also, if anyone's interested I've made a Spotify playlist featuring music from most of the films we've covered so far.  I'll keep it regularly updated so feel free to give it a follow.  I recommend you put it on random 🙂

It's spooky season which means one thing, the good old horror double feature.  Like last year everyone will nominate both a classic and a modern horror film, classic being anything before 1980.  Winners will be drawn Monday.

My picks are Nosferatu - A Symphony of Horror (1922) and Red Moon Tide (2020)

Dark comedies with a location in the title directed and produced by brothers. 🤨

Only joking, although I was genuinely wondering about Cohen Brothers films.

Will think of something proper later.

films by Ethan and Joel Coen as nominated by @djw180, and @omarcomin71will be happy too as most of their films are dark comedies.

I'll start off by nominating a film that also has a location in the title, Raising Arizona.

Winner will be picked on Monday.

The big Lebowski and O Brother Where Art Thou? are probably my two favorites. However, I’d love to see what others think of Burn After Reading.
I remember it being very dark but very funny as well. It’s time to revisit. 🙂
