Blade Runner.  Watched it first when I was 12.  It was a boring piece of shit.  Just Indiana Jones looking sad and talking a lot.  Weren't there supposed to be killer robots in it?

I absolutely love that film now.

2001 A Space Odyssey

Age has a lot to do with this of course. I would have been a child when I first saw it and expected sci-fi to be all space ships and laser beams. I thought what on Earth are these people doing jumping about in ape costumes and never bothered watching the rest.

Any Shakespeare adaptation

I'd blame some of my school English teachers for this, making me regard any Shakespeare as boring, hard to understand, idiots in silly costumes. I think what converted me are some of the modern-day-set versions like Baz Lurhman's Romeo & Juliet.
