@WasHatched recently bought a 1991 Dodge Dakota. It is pretty much rust free other than some surface rust on the hood and only 1 baseball size dent in the right fender. This will be what he will be driving when he turns 16 next year. It has a 318ci V8, auto trans. The paint is peeling on it pretty bad though (pics to come). This thread will be to post pics of the progress of a total restoration of this truck. All is being done with money he has earned himself.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I can’t believe you got a Dodge that old in the Midwest with that little rust. Explain please?

Well, according to the previous owner for about the past 10 years it was only driven a couple times a year in the summer just to circulate everything cuz they had no real need for the truck but didn't want to sell it

I'll get pics of what it looks like today. Was has it stripped down to the cab only on the frame.

Should be a cool little project.

BALL JOINTS!!!!!!!!!!!! REPLACE THEM!

They are stupid bad on this truck and the Durango.

Shaggy just traded his cop car for a 3 row seating 2002 Durango RT with the 360.  It's the all wheel version with a 40/60 split and also has 4WD low.

It's mainly for hauling the kids without two cars being needed.

I think he came out well on top of the trade.

Progress with this has been slow. The bed is fully done and primed, just needs wet sanded and painted as well as the fenders. He found some rust on the tailgate, once he got into it with the sander it went from quarter size rust to a hole I can put my foot thru. It took a bit but we found a rust free tailgate at the scrap yard rather than weld up to old one.
