The Last of Us writer/creative director Neil Druckmann and acclaimed Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin are teaming up for an HBO series based on the hit video game.

Naughty Dog president Evan Wells and Carolyn Strauss (executive producer of Chernobyl, among other HBO properties) will also serve as executive producers, and the TV series will be the first from PlayStation Productions

"Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus," Mazin told The Hollywood Reporter. "Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I'm so honored to do it in partnership with Neil."

"From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us," said Druckmann in a statement.

Although the exact shape of the series is still coming together, The Hollywood Reporter says that the show covers the 2013 game and could feature content from this year's sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which Druckmann directed and co-wrote.

Druckmann wrote a script for a possible The Last of Us movie, but in 2018 his interest in the project had cooled.

Still not got round to watching Chernobyl, this sounds interesting though.

Interesting...maybe. The whole zombie thing is running thin for me, thoough I did enjoy the game.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Chernobyl was fantastic. I thought I knew a lot about the disaster but there is so much more to learn. The errors in the calculations will astound you!!

I highly recommend it if you have ever looked into the disaster. Oh and the The Chernobyl Diaries horror film isn't terrible either.

Back on topic, im extremely excited about this collaboration.Chernobyl dripped with atmosphere and there weren't zombies in it, I usually temper my expectations but i will not miss this as Mazin himself is a fan of the game. We all know how the video game goes, but we dont know how Mazin will put it together and I have a feeling it will be just as good as the game was with those unexpected moments of beauty and dread.

I know exactly what you mean, I gave up on Walking dead and have one last episode of Z Nation I have no enthusiasm to watch.

What is more off putting is the IMO silly ‘super zombies’ they end up putting into video games to add a challenge/increase difficulty/add a boss level.

I might really look forward to this but would probably switch of the minute a clicker or bloater appeared.
