With the world of sport now on hold for many of us there are a few eSports events taking the place of the real thing.

Formula 1 have their eSports in full swing now: https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/tags.esports.N0CpHwC3MAUK4iwAEYi6e.html

The Grand National in the UK was replaced by a virtual event this year:

I know some will despise the idea of ‘replacing’ real life events, but I thought it might be an idea to have a place to share upcoming eSports or Virtual events that may be replacing what is lost due to lockdowns.

Can you smell what the Stone is cooking?

I could see this being pretty entertaining all things considered.
I’ll admit I got caught up watching NASCAR iRacing.  FOX and their broadcast team covers it as if it’s a regular event which is pretty cool.
It’s also funny watching drivers intentionally wrecking each other when upset. 😄

EA Getting Soccer Pros Together For FIFA 20 Charity Tournament.

Electronic Arts is rounding up 20 as-yet-unannounced real-life footballers for a special FIFA 20 tournament (April 15-19) as part of its Stay Home, Play Together COVID-19 charity relief campaign.

The players are from big clubs like Chelsea, Roma, Real Madrid, Ajax, and other teams such as Liverpool. No word if a Juventus player will have to represent Piemonte Calcio in the game. EA says it'll divulge more on the players involved via the game's official Twitter account.

  • 2 weeks later...

I regularly watch the Redline events (https://live.teamredline.com/) on Twitch. They use iRacing. A very realistic racing sim also used by Nascar for their eSeries.

Each event they choose a different vehicle class. That keeps it very entertaining. They use V8 supercars, F3 cars, old F1 cars, GT3, Porsche Supercup, etc.

They include some high level real-life racers like Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Scott Mclaughlin and Antonio Felix Da Costa. And the racing is waaaaay better than de official F1 VirtualGP. That thing is a mess.

I also like the Indycar eSeries (also iRacing) were almost the whole field consists of actual 2020 Indycar drivers. The majority of them are pretty good at sim racing. And I love watching Will Power calling other drivers (that mess up) wankers, and then get muted by the race director 😂
