Interesting idea. I am going to ponder upon this possibility as well.

 

But whats the deal with houses and NPC's...are there always gonna be random NPC's loitering around your house? I know it shouldn't matter, but its kinda creepy.

I believe they fixed the NPC at your house issue. I think I saw it in the patch notes.

I knew it was a bad sign when my entire PS3 locked up while I was installing 1.16, had to pull the power cord.

 

Ditto, the moment I started downloading the console froze.

After .. 7 weeks, I have to say - personally - I am insanely underwhelmed by this update.

 

Few things are cool:

 

1) Flight School

2) Tons of new jobs

3) Coquette Classic

4) Re-worked payouts/increased payouts for more members completing missions (honestly, don't even care but this is all 99.9% of GTAO players care about which blows).

 

And .. yeah. Oh yeah .. lol @ a tank icon on the map so you can see who's in one. From my point of view though, this seems way more content focused than substance and issue correcting and I'm giving it a 4/10.

Flight school pays a lot of money, I got $100k from getting mostly bronze on the first 8 missions alone. Apparently you can get $250k if you manage to get gold in all the missions, but is it just me or are they really hard? I don't see myself getting all gold anytime soon :(

personally i think a lot of ppl are underwhelmed by this bc of the ppl that crack open the codes and leak info months ahead of time, getting everyone all excited. this update would be way more pleasing if u didn't know about it until yesterday when they actually released info. and just bc ppl heard about the heists thats all they want, anything else isn't good enough. sure it's not a huge update and i woulda liked to see buyable hangers to store our planes as well but hey, did u pay for this update?

Its going to be the same way with heist. People have been over hyping them so much people are not going to be happy when they cone out.

Looks like contact mission payouts are based off mission time - I think longer = more $ (kinda like male strippers). 

 

Just did coveted solo - first run through was a laid back snipe fest, somewhere between 15 and 20 mins which included the time to go pick up my lil' tank (location icon still nerfed, btw) and the payout was a respectable $20k and change.  Then blitzed the same mission avec le tank, completed in approx 7 mins, with the payout down to $12K. 

 

For the third attempt, I got in the tank and looped the 2 joysticks together so the turret is doing the merry-go-round thing and I'll leave it like that for an hour or so while i catch up on TV programs, household chores and maybe a little nookie to see if that equates to a mega buck payout.  If it does, attempt #4 will be the same thing, just run overnight for some potentially serious wonga.

 

I'll report findings later, but if anyone has direct experience/suggestions/whatever feel free to drop a note.  Just not on the nookie thing - I got that covered.  ;)

That seems to be the case.

 

From what I gather, there is a new formula for payouts. The main parameters are length of time spent (like races for max payout) and number of team members. Looking around the web a lot of people are having more success soloing missions because of the length of time.

 

All the grinding missions seem to be nerfed, while all the lower missions upgraded. There seems to still be some grinding gems, but we have been hopping around and getting similar payouts for a lot of missions. I haven't even gotten the good solo ones yet.

 

What seems ideal so far is to simply run through the voting screen and grabbing just about whatever, while on the look out for longer missions like Los Santos Connection and Judging The Jury. Early messageboard posts have success just hopping through them all. because of the lack of down time and early/easy missions being buffed.

anyone notice if you take longer to do a contact mission you get more money.

Yeah, I don't like it. It takes away teamwork and efficiency.

 

With this formula, it's better to solo missions for the added time, opposed to 4 people that work well and quickly.

 

I think with what they did with the lower level missions, it may suit people to just get solid groups of four and just attack every mission possible on the voting screen.

This is ridicilous. So if I'm efficient and do it faster than normal I get paid less?

 

It does stop people from grinding same mission over and over though, but I'm sure the grinders out there will soon find the base time for every mission and calculate which one pays most per minute, as apparently you can't get paid more than 2*1.3 (=2.6) of base payment for the mission. Than they'll be doing them with a stopwatch, do the mission quick, then wait until the max time runs out and step into the last marker when it does.

It was a bit under an hour, paying out $20,160 IIRC, which I think is the same amount for the first run (20 mins or thereabouts).

 

So I reckon 20 mins is probably the cap and I didn't bother running it overnight.  I may get more scientific about measuring it, but I find the whole thing to be rather depressing right now - the perils of needing even more money, with less online (for me) game time and lower paying gigs.  And 50 grand for a flight suit!!!!

 

I pretty much play all games as they come right out of the box (except for graphic performance improvement mods), but R*'s desperate need to push those freakin shark cards makes it easy to see why so many peeps take advantage of money glitches.  I can understand (and even applaud) R* fixing/removing the glitches and blocking the hacks, but when they 'tweak' stuff that wasn't broken just to make it more difficult to play, that crosses the line in my book.  It's a deliberate act designed to frustrate the player (the paying customer) - and a cynical way of trying to squeeze more real $ out of us.

 

I've already cancelled my pre-order of the PC version.
