I don't want to derail the recipe thread but I have a habit of taking pictures of food just before I eat it. If you've got any food pictures that look amazingly mouth watering post them here and make us all even hungrier.

Here's just a small sample of my collection.

I know, its almost the same damn plate as last post, almost. I do not like cooking, quite the opposite to be honest.

But I love Spinata Calabrese (the salami on the right), it goes with everything or just as it is.

Salad or beer is probably top two companions.

This thread is not active enough.  I will try to get some life back into it.  I love food.  I love food a lot.

I used to weigh 315 pounds as a result of loving food so much!  I am 5 foot 11 inches so that was pretty fat!  In recent years I have adopted exercise to the point of obsession.  So much so that I can eat fairly aggressively now and not gain too much weight.  I have actually done at least 30 mins of cardio on either my elliptical, stationary bike or jogging (average of 61 minutes a day) for 467 consecutive days after my 45 minute bike session before work today.  I log every workout in an app and export it to a excel sheet.

On my 40th birthday I decided that I wanted to see if I can work out for 365 consecutive days.  The requirement to count as an official day was 30 minutes of vigorous cardio.  Walking does not count.  Even if I walk 10 miles it does not count.  I own an elliptical and right after my birthday I bought a stationary bike.  So now I have a mini gym in my house (I also have a total gym and some free weights).  I started on Nov 14th 2016 and as of today I have not missed a day.  People who say there is not time to exercise are  99% full of shit.    In 24 hours I simply don't believe that you can't fit in 20 or 30 mins.  I wanted to prove that to myself.  And starting my 40th year with a history of up and down weight issues I wanted to see if I can make exercise as normal a daily activity as brushing one's teeth.  In that year there was only maybe 5 or 6 days where it was tough to get the exercise in and I had to make a real effort to squeeze it in.  After completing day 365 days this past November I said why not keep going?  I am gonna go for two years....maybe three!  So if you ever hear me breathing heavy on mic it is possible I am riding the exercise bike while fighting in that deathmatch!  I have actually found when in combat jobs on GTA I actually peddle faster due to the intensity of the gaming.  I have found that when I am racing in game I tend to do a poor job of keeping up the pace.  So often in playlists I am jumping on and off the bike throughout burning those calories while playing with you all.  I am down almost 90 pounds now.  I still want to lose about 30-40 more so I don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

So back to food.  I love food so much that I am willing to put myself on that bike or elliptical every day to be able to enjoy it a little bit more.  In addition to the exercise I have improved my eating.  I don't just eat whatever I want whenever I want.  I have been dating my future wife now for 14 months and she is very helpful and cooks me lots of healthy meals!  Lately we have adopted a policy of one cheat night a week, and one cheat weekend a month.  So one night a week we have something deliciously sinful.  Not necessarily unhealthy, but just whatever we want.  And one weekend a month we adopt that attitude for several meals over the course of a weekend.  We usually tie and plan our cheat weekend into an event.  Our cheat weekend for February was our trip to Las Vegas.  Our cheat weekend for March will be the first March Madness basketball tournament weekend.  For April we are going to a Six Flags in the Bay Area for a weekend out of town.

So, enough about me.  Time for some food porn.  I wanted to share some from our Las Vegas trip a few weeks ago.

We ate at Giada's in Vegas as Italian is both of our favorite.  Here was my indulgence!

Our drink at the bar while waiting for the table is seen here.  I can't remember the name of it but it was a fruity, tropical vodka drink.

This was our appetizer.  It was Calamari with some kind of sauce that was like a hybrid of tartar sauce and honey mustard.  I didn't ask what it was called but it was fantastic!

This was called the Pasta Trio.  Ashlie and I both got this for dinner.  It consisted of a small portion of three different pastas:

Left: Bucatini with Calabrian chili pomodoro & fresh ricotta

Middle: Spaghetti with shrimp mascarone cheese and lemon and basil.

Right: Rigatoni with vegetable bolognese

This was fucking epic.  The flavor was so rich and the spice on the Bucatini was perfect.

On our last day we went to Hash house a go go!  You may have heard about this place.  It has become quite famous and been featured many times on the food channel.  They are known for their unique and large breakfast portions.

Here is what we had..  My meal is in front.  One, yes one giant House Buttermilk Signature  Flapjack  with banana and cinnamon.  I also have house potatoes, two scrambled eggs, a side of bacon and biscuit the size of a softball.  Ashlie had The Kokomo which was Griddled meatloaf, roasted tomato and smoked mozzarella on old fashioned milk bread and it came with their delicious french fries.  Neither one of us came all that close to finishing our meals lol.  I ate about half the pancake and half the biscuit and finished everything else.

fvWROhY.jpg

This cheat weekend was glorious!  Ashlie gained only two pounds on the weekend.  I did not weigh until a week after getting back and getting back on the diet.  I was down 1 pound one week after we got home from before we left.  I dieted pretty hardcore throughout the week following the trip though so I am guessing I gained a couple or three pounds on the weekend also.  So worth it!

Anyway, thanks for letting me share.  It has been two weeks since Vegas and I am now down 3.5 pounds since the day we left for the trip.  But Saturday night is our first real cheat night since Vegas.  I will probably be uploading more pics of whatever I indulge in this weekend!

Thanks for bumping this Pete! ?

I have finally joined the dark side and got myself a smart phone a month ago, and joined Instagram, so all my food porn (pretty much all homemade) is now being shared with the world. ?

Last weekend's Asian theme (Japan & Vietnam) for example:

This weekend's treat was more Italian food.

Seafood Manicotti: Hand rolled pasta tubes stuffed with cracked crabs, prawns, Italian cheese and a touch of green onion, in a roasted pepper cream sauce with sauteed spinach

Chicken Piccata: Tender breast medallions lightly breaded in seasoned crumbs and sauteed in lemon butter with capers
