So last week I logged a question on R*s support website and posted a wall of text basically explaining the recent issues with players dropping out and not being able to get back in again.

Guess what ?! They replied !

Below the answer:

Hello Ronin,

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

We deeply apologize for all the inconvenience caused to you.

We would request you to kindly unlink the PSN ID from your Social Club and play the game for 2 to 3 days and relink the PSN ID back to the Social Club account.

We also request you to ask your crew members to follow the same steps if they having issues connecting to Playlists.

Best regards,

Stephen R.
Rockstar Support

Gonna give this one a shot for what it's worth.

Would be good if others, mainly those with these problems, could give it a try as well and let me know the findings here?

Could be a rubbish answer, but at least they replied and on top of that it seems like it was ... of human nature o0

That's their answer to a lot of things.

They've advised me to do that for a number of things going back to the 360 and it never worked. In some cases it made things worse.

That's weird.. I understand basic programming but don't see how or why that would fix anything.. And if they knew it was a problem, why wouldn't they patch the code?

With that said, it's definetly worth a try but as Seymour said I wouldn't hold my breathe. Thanks for letting us know though and hopefully it can help at least someone :)

I have found if you're not in the lobby from the start then it screws you up.

This explains why I'm often invited to playlists (after they have already started), only to get a message that says "Failed to join this session of GTA Online.  Joining a new session".  I've been wondering about that for a few weeks now ...

  • 3 weeks later...

Typically I've never had to many issues with joining a playlist until the past week or so. Every time I would join a playlist it said the inviting player was no longer in session or I could join for a short time and get kicked. Was finally able to join my first invited playlist in a while. Pretty disappointing

The mailing with R* went on for a while until I gave up.  Countless times I have explained them the issues that we were experiencing, provided them with all the info they requested, but it was just in vain. Got a bit too fed up with the non-answers they always came back with ...

So regarding the ticket I raised weeks ago, no solution.

Things learned out of experience:

- try to be in the session with the rest of PL attendants before it starts

- if you get dropped, 99% chance you won't get back in again

- restarting the PL is the only way to get everyone on board again, but it takes time and patience, it is extra trouble for the host and everyone gets bad sport on top of it all

Let's hope they can fix it with next week's update, which should be possible as we have never experienced these problems to such an extend up until they removed the Christmas DLC stuff in January. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

I read somewhere some time back that in P2P gaming a connection has to be established between all consoles and once that's done it gets difficult for people to join if the session has started already.

Maybe that's why we have trouble joining playlists midway....

Another thing I've noticed is that during the early PS4 days when there were 6-7 people in a playlist I could get back in easily.Nowadays we have at least 10-12 people attending and maybe that makes things more difficult....

Pausing the game during a job and inviting them from the friends menu is successful 70% of the time for me on PS4, even during crew H2H's.

Works best when done at the start of a TDM, LTS or capture, but can even be done if you finish a race near the front and then invite while spectating, again by pausing the game.

Things seem to be getting much worse with connectivity issues, joining, and invites.

If you can, please take a moment and support and/or comment on this thread: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203348848-GTAVO-Joining-sessions-and-playlists?page=2

It is no guarantee that R* will do anything, but I figure the louder we are, the more likely we will be heard.  This game is incredibly broken and it is beyond me if they even realize just how broken it is.
