Paletto Forest Rally Raid

Rally Raid is offroad racing where navigation is just as important as driver skill. Keep one eye on your HUD Roadbook for upcoming turns and think twice before hitting respawn as checkpoints are sparse.

Point to Point

Locked to Sultan, but would be suitable for most other classes

2-30 Players

So I wanted to create a race with the navigation challenges found in Rally but without the need for a co-driver.

I was think of calling this sort of race a NavRally.

Checkpoints are only used to mark turns off the marked road you are currently on, but are set further back so you will need to watch your HUD Map to determine the correct route.

This is a difficult race and if it people enjoy it, I have some plans on expanding this sort of race into more of a endurance type race by incorporating some ideas that Beez and I talked about in between Nerf battles at work.

Race well and please provide feedback,

E

Haha....that was really enjoyable Ern.  Something a bit different & an interesting concept.

I just did a solo run, but it would be cool to see how it plays out with a few competitors.

There are several places where you have to make some major decisions.  I got some of them right, but I also got some very, very wrong.

I was going to suggest an extra checkpoint between CP11 & CP12, but then I thought, no, that would defeat the purpose of what you're trying to achieve.

At CP11, you can decide to follow the upper windy road, go down to the lower road, or even cross the river at some point.  That's the whole point of it.

The CP's just tell you where to go, but it's up to you to work out how to get there.

I managed to find a couple of nice short cuts, but I'm not telling where.   ;)

It wont be to everybody's liking as it could be frustrating for some, but I certainly enjoyed it.  Thumbs up.

I am glad that you enjoyed it!

My hope was to recreate the navigation challenge of rally racing, where each checkpoint is a small victory and your head hurts when it is done.

I am considering locking this to the Sultan or SUVs as it a decently stable platform for this sort of terrain that may allow players to focus on the navigation map a bit more. This may also limit the shortcut options.

I have locked this race to the Sultan.

There also seems to be a bit of a rock slide on the lower road along the river that may slow those who choose the less technical route. =)
