Hey Seymor.

We did the race in either Dani's or Torrid's PL yesterday. (did so many PL's this week, it's all a blur)

Seemed like a fun track, but I only got to see the 1st half of it.  :(

The big jump over the water was tough.  Several of us didn't make it over on the 1st attempt, as you need to hit it flat out & at just the right angle.

When we re-spawned, we were at the base of the ramp & had to reverse right back to get a bigger run up.

Took me 3 goes before I made the jump, but my car then bounced off the landing ramp & fell to the ground below.  I could see the checkpoint from underneath, but couldn't trigger it, so had to re-spawn & do the jump again.

When the leaders were finished & the timer ran out, I was only half way around the course.

Is there another way across that section?

Is it possible to use a floating barge prop with another ramp & CP on it to do the jump in two stages for example?

EDIT.

Loved starting on the roof.  Took us all by surprise, but it worked quite well & provided a few laughs.  :)

I tried playing around with a barge and a ramp. There isn't enough room to get enough speed to get from the barge to that cement ramp thing.

That ramp and where you land is tough, but the uniqueness of it has me keeping it in there.

I did try running that with a custom Schafter and it had too much speed and acceleration for that course.

Yeah, I used it in my playlist. I must have gotten lucky because I had a nice clean jump.

That's right.  Sorry Mr. Jag.

Like I was saying, the last few days have blurred into one massive GTA session.  :)

Over the head-set, it sounded like you guys up front were having a good time.

I ran the race in a solo session today & failed the jump again, but got it 2nd time.

If you make the jump 1st time, the race is fun, & it was so cool to finish on a roof, as well as start on a roof.

Yeah, using the cement ramp thing is cool & unique.  You should definitely keep it in the race.

It's just that half the field's race was effectively over because they didn't make the jump 1st try.

When I did the race in a solo session today, I tried to look for another option.

Have you tried blocking the truck/ramp & putting a medium or large ramp prop to the right of it?

It looks like a viable option.  Something like this.

Made a copy and did some testing...

A large ramp to the right of the trailer ramp works, but...it Isn't as tall as the trailer ramp so if you land the jump, the back end of your car is hanging off so there's a chance of falling back onto that platform with all the debris.

A platform with a large ramp can also be placed behind the platform with all the debris...and a medium ramp can be placed bypassing that trailer ramp altogether.

However, I'm trying to force usage of that trailer ramp, not take it out completely. This race is meant to be a challenge. Sometimes I make the jump, sometimes I don't.

What I hope doesn't happen, is people not even trying, quitting at the jump, or trying to drive around the jump.

People could also ask Lann to take it out.

I can't fault the opening of this track. It's a pretty grand way to kick things off, I like that.

Like Snacks and I know a number of people tonight, there are problems with some of the ramps in comparison to the CPs. If you judge a jump incorrectly or don't have enough speed, you are severely punished. The quickest way to off-set this is to obviously play with the CP before and/or after a jump because in a case like this, where you respawn is crucial to picking up momentum again.

Some ramps aren't completely obvious until you get there and if you have to spend too much time aligning it properly chances are good you've already failed and will set yourself up for a retrial. You can call attention to them with other props by blocking things off or having a wider berth for a jump (more ramps). Another option is to literally have ramps build up over themselves (stacking) so there's more ground to gain more speed and less space to cover for a jump.

So while I think there's some very good qualities to this race, some of the mechanics need some work to really get a good flow going. With a bit of fine tuning this can be a really solid track.

This is a really fun race.

The first time I played it, there were no issues getting over that jump on the trailer and landing on that platform.  Last night, I had to try about five times before I finally got over the ramp and made the landing.  At that point, I was so far behind the rest of the group, I knew I was going to DNF.

I'm not sure what needs to be changed with that jump as I've never made a race with jumps/ramps.  It probably is just a simple move of a CP and things will flow a bit better.  I'd like to run this race again sometime.
