I'm like Ronin, I love pretty much all seafood. Exceptions are clams, mussels and oysters. I want to like those as well but there is an ICK factor. Fried clams, clam chowdah and quahogs are not a problem though. Fried calamari is so good I even like the tentacles. Most any finned fish I'll try and crabs, lobster and shrimp are great. In fact, at most restaurants I'll order a seafood entree.

I go to Sushi restaurants at least twice a month, i eat all kind of food and i love a lot of different food, but Sushi is my favorite when it comes from professional Sushi cooks!

I can only encourage anyone who hasn't tried Sushi, to try it out, but make sure that it's from very good cooks, because it can easily be bad Sushi, it needs to be very fresh!

- Describing the taste is hard, but here goes: It's very fresh, very tasty, can be crisp, but nicely balanced with the softness of the fish and rice, it also depends what kind you eat, cause there's a lot of different stuff, it's not all maki rolls!

It's the real food's version of cake :)

- As i said, i love a lot of different food, like well prepared duck, good steaks, calf in a good sauce, etc. but Sushi is my favorite food, ever, period :)

I've tried it in Japan, so I'm assuming it was pretty authentic.I thought the tuna and salmon I had was OK. But raw prawns, snails etc, I could not even bring my self to try. I don't like them when they're cooked due to the texture rather than the taste. So I assumed the raw versions would be even worse for me.

I have practically eaten sushi my entire life.  I personally love it, but I prefer sashimi, which is actually entirely raw fish, whereas sushi rolls can contain cooked fish and other ingredients.  There have been many times when I have eaten it literally four or five times per week.  I cannot eat shellfish, as I am allergic, so I stick to raw salmon, tuna, yellow tail, mackerel, etc.

I don't know, I understand it is not everyone's taste, but like others have said, much of the quality depends on where you get it.  Go to a restaurant that serves fresh sushi and has a skilled chef and you will instantly notice the difference in quality compared to the ones who use frozen fish and put their plates on a train where you just grab whatever you want.

Sushi is huge in the Pacific Northwest and we love our salmon both cooked and raw.  I'd say if you're afraid to try it, just do it once to say that you have.  It won't kill you. ;)  You may even like it.

On the other hand though, I cannot imagine eating surströmming, and I'm from a Swedish background.  That is something that just seems scary.

The other day i went to a gastronomy workshop and guess what it was about? Yeah, sushiiii. A very skilled chef taught us step-by-step how to prepare sushi at our home. He brought the ingredients and we prepared it ourselves, with his help ofc! It was a nice experience.

I talked to him before he left and asked where can i try some gooood sushi. His advise was to go to an expensive restaurant (+20€ a meal). I cant remeber his exact words.. But i guess we already knew that... It is kinda obvious huh..

Anyways, go eat sushi guys, ok? :)

Try it with soy sauce, it will reduce that taste of raw fish that scares some of u :P

I love it and eat it whenever I can. Hint.....it isn't all Raw.

A good Chinese Buffet was the first thing I looked for when I arrived in Ocala in Feb. Found an awesome one with a large Sushi selection and Hibachi.

Nothing annoys me quite like someone who just flat out refuses to try something. "It's Nasty"....how the f*&$ do you know? I once had that stance but after being proven wrong on a couple occasions......I stopped.

Picky eaters.....grrrr. I was one as a teen. When I graduated High School, I left for the Army. It only took two days into basic for me to get over that crap. You ate whatever was in front of you or you went hungry.
