The only concern, but a very big one that I have about this one is that Multiplayer seems to be disgustingly pay-to-win. I'm not going to pre-order or even buy day 1, but if the MP fails, story should still be great and I'll get it eventually. You can trust EA to fuck any gem of a game up with a stupid move and I think this one will disappoint with the multiplayer P2W thing. I hope I'm wrong, but... EA.

I hope you are wrong Proto but with Star Wars in the hands of EA and Disney it is pretty much a given that it will look good and make money. Add to this that P2W looks like the future for many software houses so it may be inescapable that this game will go that way, they have stated 'no season pass' but this does not equal 'free content' after the initial purchase.

Really got my fingers crossed for a coop campaign, this could possibly make the purchase worthwhile. Bing is going for the deluxe edition, early access, bonus weapons, skins and maybe bonus heroes. He will be happy, he is a little less cynical than us.

If the crates are the same as EA's Battlefield then, I won't be impressed. You get them in between games (randomly I think) or you can buy them...

Hate the damned things in BF1 and am not happy they are making there way too SWBII :( However they tend to be skins rather than anything that improves you weapons/player, I tend to scrap them for dosh.

BTW I might have some crate details wrong on crates as I largely ignore them.

The collectible cards in crates seems very overwatchesque. No mention of them being able to be purchased in the trailer but its highly likely that will be the case.

If they were Overwatchesque, that'd be perfectly fine - in OW there's only visual and audio customisational items in crates, no boosts, no performance enhancing effects whatsoever.

However, with SWBFII, what I've found so far is that these crates will have performance boosts, item and damage boosts etc. Getting crates in-game doesn't happen all that often, but you can buy in bulk for real $$ and get a ton of those boosts.

Quite horrendous if that makes it to the release version.

I think our hopes will be dashed, the future business model for many games will be micro transactions from now on in... just to cement the frustration pay to win is here to stay too.

I can overlook all this though if the backbone of the game is strong enough to help me ignore these niggles. Bing is in hook line and sinker, all he wants for his birthday is the Deluxe Edition due to all the extras that come with the extra price.

I’m quite happy that the new generation of gamers are embracing Star Wars the same way us old fans love the series. Its such an engaging universe in all formats. EA need to understand who their audience is and treat them right.

Not sure if I am keen on the whole Emperor/Sentinel concept even though it is canon. I never played Force Unleashed as I thought the whole secret apprentice thing a really poor story arc and weak excuse to build a video game around a new canon character, I can stomach it in BF2 though if the campaign is enjoyable and there is always multiplayer to fall back on.

Force Unleashed wasn’t canon though was it?

It was a fun game and I liked the story concept but I never thought of it as being part of the true story.

As for the secret apprentice, Darth Maul was originally a secret apprentice while Sidious was apprenticed to Darth Plagueis so it’s definitely a concept previously seen in the Star Wars universe

I thought it was canon, Lucas Arts game, given the nod by Lucas himself, well EU canon anyway. My memory is hazy though, if it was I guess it has been cast aside as Legends now.

I am not so much against secret apprentices, as you say they pop up all over the place it is just this one felt so shoehorned in to build a story that was not there. A bit negative on my part as this was an era when video games were becoming a more viable platform for expanding fantasy universes more visually...

i guess I just took a disliking to the guy, this cocky unknown sitting on the cover of a Star Wars game with a fashionable crew cut and holding his light sabre like a gangsta. :lol:

Really wanna know if it was canon at the time, a quick Google has been inconclusive.

After a bit of digging it was canon at the time. Depending on which ending you chose of course.

They have a very limited range of material that is canon now, even a couple of films released after ROTJ have been struck from the canon record but they were cheesy Ewol movies so didn’t really count anyway.

I thought Disney's idea was that everything that hit the big screen was canon... not that I mind them removing  Caravan of Courage and whatever the other one was called  and sticking them in Legends.

I am not really a fan of Disney owning Star Wars but cleaning up canon really needed to be done and converting the EU to Legends was better than losing it IMO.

Anyway the Beta for SWBII starts on the 4th Oct, I will defo post a vid or two and try and cover anything you might be interested in. :)

Just finished my first game, really enjoyed it... shouting and whooping most of the way through. Feels so much more solid than SWB1 and  it's great to get some new locations. Playing as a droid was great and I never would have gone for that, absolutely buzzing right now!!

Gotta have some dinner but will post the vid first...
