I'm not sure if anyone is aware or not so I'll just explain it quickly.

There's an entertainer in American called the Fat Jew. He's been getting a lot of flack about plagiarism recently. Mainly what he seems to do is share memes and other random photos. Personally I don't see the problem with it. After all, the idea is to share things like that.

My main point of this post is that I wrote a comment on Facebook just saying my opinion, I rarely do it anyway. It's amazing how many people insult you over petty things.

I'm not really offended as I just think they're childish for not being able to have an adult conversation.

Have you ever had any problems like this?

People commenting on Facebook stories are usually pretty bad and even worse with anything slightly controversial. I kind of enjoy reading the comments on these kinds of things but for the life of me I still can't work out why people feel the need to say all these things.

They write their opinions as facts and think that people actually care what they have to say. Then you get all the trolls who just talk crap to get a reaction out of people. I don't get why they do it, but then again I'm a more reserved and private person.

Facebook is full of trolls and people looking to cause tension and start fights as a way to entertain their boring lives. I rarely see posts or comments where people actually talk to each other in a nice way.

I've never experienced this though since I won't waste my time commenting on things since no one would really listen anyway.

Facebook, lol. Nothing but a haven for trolls and douchebags. I pretty much stay away from the comments on anything. They are nothing but crybabies and entitled jerks.

That same can be said about any comment section online.

True. I write a lot on IMDB but I love films so it doesn't really bother me that much like facebook.

I did once get involved in an argument that lasted longer than I care to think about. It was the Friends board and we were arguing about who was right between Ross and Rachel.

My last argument was over the meaning of the film War of the House. They were being all pretentious about it claiming, I, along the masses thought it was a black comedy, when it wasn't, it was a serious film or something so I got accused of being a troll because I disagreed with him. I love the internet but hate it at the same time

Social Media can get volatile very quickly. Just look at how quickly a group of "like-minded" people, such as ourselves, can blow a thread wide open on our own website. If we can do it, then the chances of it happening among a wider audience, like Facebook or IMDB, is almost guaranteed.

Here's something that really bothers me right now on Facebook (and other social media sites):

STARBUCKS.

I'm not upset because they have a red cup.  I really don't care what color my cup is, just make my order correct and I'll be happy.  But there are people online losing their shit right now because Starbucks is waging a "War on Christmas" because there aren't, like, reindeer and shit, on their cups.  Does anyone honestly care?  These people are throwing out personal attacks towards each other... over a coffee cup.  Trash.  It's freaking trash.  You're going to drink your beverage and throw the cup away when you're done.  Whatever.  There are plenty of other coffee shops to go to if you're that upset at Starbucks.  OR, you can just brew your own coffee at home and drink from a mug that says "Merry Christmas" on it and call it a day.

Hate Facebook. Deleted rest of post because I have the world s dumbest smart phone, changing words to shit that makes no sense.

I'm in the same boat as jaggalicious, I live far from home, and have family all over the world, so for this, I deal with Facebook.

I had never heard of The Fat Jew until yesterday and didn't bother looking it up because I forgot about it until now.  There's a billboard near where I work advertising that he'll be at one of the casino nightclubs.

Agree. The whole "war" on Christmas thing is a joke. Religion grinds my gears, both the super believers and the super non believers.

Because im one for the details :P I think you mean that you dislike people with strong beliefs that force it upon everyone else and don't accept that there is another way of living and think that they're the only person whose opinion is valid. That really ticks me off. Why can't people just respect other people's opinions? Have a small and civil conversation if you must but these conversations never go anywhere, so why try!?

This reminded me of a conversation I had (not on Facebook :P), about the way the world is changing because of social media. People petition and complain to companies on social media because they get listened to. Once a negative post takes off, the company needs to reply in a way to make the company look better and look like they have resolved the issue.

It's even gone as far that people will send a Facebook message to their travel agent to change their flights. I don't get why people would do that!? Just call them up or email them! I guess they want to brag that they are doing something though.

The worst thing is that the companies have had to adapt to this new method of communication so it's now the new normal. The travel agent company I was talking about actually have a few dedicated travel consultants that only monitor Facebook and social media to help fix any problems that passengers have with their bookings.

What a world we live in now.

FB is just a troll board. It's not that people comment stupid shit, it's that they comment on shit they know nothing about most of the time.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

:default_sign0081:

As many already know, I don't use Facebook, Twitter, or anything of the like.  I once had a MySpace back in the day, but that was restricted to my fellow co-workers at the time, and it was just our way of having mass communication and sharing things with each other.  It was a great group of people, so I didn't mind.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to social media, but that's because I refuse to be part of it.  I'm too stubborn and too old...fashioned to allow myself to be sucked into that realm of modern society.  When I meet people in the real world and they say, "hey, add me on Facebook" their faces usually drop when I tell them I don't have one and haven't the desire to sign up.  I've seen snippets of my co-workers and casual friends Facebook pages, and I don't like it one bit.  These people are literally obsessed with it and everyone knows everyone else's personal business at all times.  If it isn't that, it's much of what you mentioned--childish insults and bickering galore, condescending know-it-alls who think their opinion means something and feel the need to enlighten everyone else, and people who actually think others give a shit about what they're having for dinner or what color socks they are wearing today.  I don't understand the modern world, and I don't really like much of what I see these days.

Sorry for ranting, but I hate popular social media and I'll be damned if I ever sign up for any of that nonsense.

I use FB but I very rarely comment or post anything on my wall or someone elses. I use it as a messenger app and events planner. I don't need to see what people are doing in their lives and don't feel the need to tell people what I'm doing but if you're trying to arrange an event for a group of people then it is a great social tool

Also it's useful for sharing screenshots and videos for use on these forums. I have my privacy locked down so only I see the posts but its the quickest way of saving screenshots from the PS4 to your PC.

I think any type of social media just brings out the internet tough guys. The type of people who will talk crap behind a keyboard but would never have the nerve to say it to your face. I try to steer clear of those type of people. I avoid posting on social media. Facebook is one of the worse sites out there. It is full of people trying to force their opinion onto you. I can't get on it without seeing a ton of ridiculous posts. The ones that bother me the most are the ones where they post something about a new article and claim its fact but they never took the time to look into it to see if it was true or not.

Oh god the flashbacks of the argument. I think people took that show too serious

Too many bullies on Facebook too.  People who think they can talk shit anyone and everyone in a place where their target won't see it.  I had a group of supposed friends start talking shit about me in a private group (that I was a member of), but for some reason, they didn't think I'd see it?!  Anyway, I saw it and was truly disgusted.  I wasn't even angry.  Just disgusted at the immaturity.  These were people in their late 30's, early 40s, acting like middle aged mean girls in the cafeteria.  I have absolutely no tolerance for people like that so my friend's list got a whole lot smaller after that.  It seemed like their only hobby and interests in life were talking shit about other people.  It's kind of sad.  Almost a year later, someone from that same group, tried to start shit with me on Twitter.  I just don't get it.  I hope when I'm that age, I'm not miserable and need to spend all day, every day, harassing people on social media.  But again, these are people who would never act like that to your face.  They use the computer/keyboard as a protector.

Just about every website with posting capabilities will have keyboard warriors and the like, but worse still, some people are totally obsessed with social media, so badly that everything they do is shared and that's strange .

I deactivated my accounts a long time ago, I only used them for promoting instead of a personal thing, but the drama, stupid poses in bathroom photo's and pathetic (often attention-seeking posts) made me question why so much of the worlds population want to use social media.

I guess there are two sides to every story, innocent and harmless trolling can be fun. I like a bit of controversy (surprise) and I don't mind if I create it or attract it. Sometimes I would go to a very popular TV show's page and post something quite controversial about the show or an actor/actress (not offensive or nasty stuff or it'd be removed), then sit back and revel in the angry replies from outraged people taking it way too seriously, some of the replies and messages over a fictional TV show were beyond belief... In typical internet fashion they start arguing with each other and I move on.

I've also posted on popular fan pages with terrible spelling and grammar and sat back while the grammar police track me down (it doesn't take long), I don't know why, but people get so mad when they're trying to inform someone of their grammatical superiority.

So yeah, I found social media good for promoting and trolling superfans until they get really angry, but it's terrible for everything else!.. It's probably good for sending messages to friends and family too, but I always prefer to call.
