Everyone needs food to survive. Sometimes we make good decisions and other times they are not so great. I personally changed my eating habits in July and got Sinister on board in November. Since then I am down 43 lbs and he is down about 15. I still have a way to go on my journey and am also looking for things to help me along the way.

Eating healthy does not have to be boring and once I learned this, it has been a lot easier to lose the weight and make better choices for my family.

I would like to use this thread to share recipes and hopefully get some in return. If you have pictures that would be great too. I will post new recipes often.

I love to try new things.

The first I will post is the "Unstuffed Cabbage Roll." This is a go to easy, healthy meal for our family.

You need:

1 lb Ground Turkey or Lean Beef

1 head Cabbage, chopped

2 15oz. cans Tomato Sauce*

1 14.5 oz can Diced Tomatos*

*I use the unsalted versions of these

Place all ingredients in the slow cooker and season to your liking. I use garlic powder, onion powder, Himalayan Pink Salt, and Pepper.

Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours

Serve with Brown Rice

Picture below is of the dish with the recipe and the "21 day fix" container counts. That is the food program we follow.

Chorizo Gravy and Biscuits!!

My best friend's wife made this for he and I one morning. Neither of us had tasted it before. It was pure heaven!!!!!

Chorizo is a Spanish pork sausage in which case it must be cooked before eating. It's not the European style that is fermented, cured, smoked sausage, in which case it is often sliced and eaten without cooking.

It's a little spicy.

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat milk over very low heat, stirring occasionally. Make sure to keep an eye on the milk, don’t let it boil.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat the butter/margarine over medium high heat until melted, then add sausage. Crumble and cook the sausage until well-browned and no longer pink.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and cook, stirring, for a minute or two.
  4. Add warm milk all at once and cook, stirring, until thickened and bubbly.
  5. Turn heat all the way down, add paprika (if desired) and season well with salt and pepper, stirring and tasting frequently until the flavor is to your liking. Turn off the heat. Gravy will continue to thicken as it cools. Serve over warm biscuits.

Will have to try that. Mexican is our families favorite food. Sadly, we have yet to find a good restaurant here.

I don't know of ANY good Mexican restaurants in Fla! LOL!

This is a good one for those that are trying to cut carbs and like tp try something new. If you don't care for cauliflower mashed potatoes are good too. I made this Friday and @Sinister ate it up. @G37 it doesn't look any different than potatoes, lol

We have been busy on the weekends but I plan to make this soon!

Found this on Facebook:

Decided I had to eat it! Asked my local cafe if they would make it for me. They agreed. Had it for lunch today:

It was absolutely delicious!

I could only manage half. I'm going to have the other half for dinner.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

That Green was Jalapeno and Banana Peppers.

That sealed it for me, while I am sure it is good for those whom like that type of stuff (3 of my 5 kids would beat your door down to try it, they love stuff like that), I can't do peppers, I have zero tolerance for the heat of peppers.
