has the advent of gta online made other games obsolete ?

Recommended Posts

I haven't met bears yet.  Not that far into the game.  Actually have no idea how far I am since the game won't link on RSC for some reason.  It's a really great game though and I enjoy every second of it.  Rockstar really needs RDR2.  Probably won't touch GTAV or GTAVI (whenever that eventually releases) for awhile if RDR2 is available.

GTA has made others almost no existent for me, I have little interest or time for other games. I do "dable" with a couple others but only if I am not in the mood for GTA or R* servers are fucked up for me.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

With all the things you can do in GTA 5, you would think that it would make other games obsolete, however there are still a few games out that do what GTA does, better. Up until a few years ago, the GTA targeting system was a joke and before that it was player control etc etc. COD does shooting better, Project Cars does racing better etc. Im really hopeful as to what the future holds for GTA because they have taken huge strides in each release and they have a track record no one can deny. Plus what Lime said is true for some of us gamers, its hard to just play one game. It is not impossible that maybe one day a video game (not just GTA) could make other games obsolete for the casual gamer but i don't think were there yet.

R* does put the pressure on other game companies to compete with what R* does too.  If you look at their track record of their games (not including the online experience) you're hard pressed to not call them one of the best video game companies.

Vice City, San Andreas, GTA3, Bully, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne, are all considered iconic games. (and series). Id like to believe that other companies see what they do and are able to learn and improve upon the formula. I remember there was a point i liked Saints Row 4 more than any GTA game...that is until GTA 5 lol.

One day the sadness will end.

I'd rather get Bully 2 before Red Dead 3.

Loved Bully so much. Or as it was originally called in the UK, Canis Canum Edit*, because of the controversy of selling a game about children called Bully.

Jerks.

*dog eat dog.

the online aspect of gta has made all other games collect dust on my shelf. but i wouldn't attribute it to the game itself more the fun i have while playing it with the crew. any free time i have when i get on ps4 i instantly go to gta to see which crew mates are on and what is going on. i dont believe my wife is to fond of the game as generally any night i am off of work as soon as our daughter goes to bed she also goes in the room to watch tv while i play in the living room
