The vetting process for becoming a society fellow is tremendously straightforward! All that is needed is a curious heart and an open mind! For example: If you spot something within this world of ours that makes you wonder when that was first created, or whether it even exists, simply post a question here. Perhaps you know the answer to a question that has been asked already - well our society is an open forum! You are welcome to present an answer any question put fourth!
With a dash of luck, we will all learn some wonderfully interesting things and have some titanic debates about the natural, the mechanical, the political, the sociological, and the philosophic!

Raiders Of The Lost Santos: Easter Egg Hunt

Come and join us on Wednesday 9th April at 19:30BST (or as close to it as you can manage) for Raiders of The Lost Santos, a 1980s Movie and TV themed Easter Egg Hunt and Playlist.
We will meet at the Richards Majestic Studios and have a vote on who came with the best costume/vehicle combo and then you will be split into two or three teams depending on the number of sign ups.
Once in our teams you'll be shown your first clue and then the treasure hunt around San Andreas will commence.
Usual rules apply: Don't bring the emergency services to the meet, don't discharge your weapons and don't be a bellend.
After the treasure hunt we'll run a themed playlist which will mostly be racing but will have a couple of surprise opportunities to shoot each other whilst uttering a badass action hero style line.
The emphasis will be on a lighthearted evening of fun rather than the competition element.
Post below to get involved. Early sign ups are encouraged so we know what numbers we're dealing with for the playlist and teams.
Any questions get in touch.

Reading for me is my absolute favourite hobby, even more so than video games. So I thought I'd start a little place where we can all share what we're currently reading and maybe get some good recommendations
Right now I'm about halfway through The Unicorn by Iris Murdoch and its really starting to get good. Like a lot of her books she cranks up tension over a situation for the first half or so of a book, than has a big breaking point to spur the second half on, and I just reached that point so things are getting pretty heated!
Anyone else reading something particularly good at the minute, or just want to share your favourite books/authors?

This month, because of the website merge, we forgo the genre nominations and instead put forward our favourite films. The winning entry was mine! This means our film for March is Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy.
The film stars Robert DeNiro as Rupert Pupkin, autograph hunter, wannabe stand-up, and obsessive fan of late night talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis). He feels that if he can just get a spot on Langford's show then he can show the world how funny he is, and he resorts to some desperate measures to try to achieve this goal.
Out of the nine collaborations between Scorsese and DeNiro this is my absolute favourite, beating out films like Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. DeNiros' Pupkin is a tragic, pathetic and terrifying figure, being pushed to the edge by a world that doesn't care about him. I find him to be more unsettling than Taxi Driver's Travis Bickle and more threatening than any gangster roles he played for Scorsese.
This is a film about fame at any cost, attention, and wanting to be noticed. As Rupert Pupkin says, "it's better to be a king for a night, than a schmuck for a lifetime."

Self isolating, no internet... what do you play?

After @Squirrel mentioned the strain on ISP’s with a lot of the world choosing to stay at home right now I quickly thought to my games collection and what I could play off line whilst itself isolating if we did start to see connections go wayward.
For me I would probably go back toe Breathe of the Wild on my Wii U. I never finished it due to online gaming commitments and would happily boot this up again.
What games would you turn to or recommend?

I've never really been a money grinder in GTA, I can't just grind away in this anymore. But if I feel the need and I know it isn't the most profitable but it is the most fun for me is to do the hanger jobs and of course the bunker as it is easy to buy supplies and deliver when full.

The ESA has officially canceled E3, and is currently looking at putting together an online version of the show in June.
Here is the organization's official statement:
After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry – our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners – we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.
Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans and supporters. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today.
Our team will be reaching out directly to exhibitors and attendees with information about providing full refunds.
We are also exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020. Updates will be shared on E3expo.com.
We thank everyone who shared their views on reimagining E3 this year. We look forward to bringing you E3 2021 as a reimagined event that brings fans, media and the industry together in a showcase that celebrates the global video game industry.

Ars Technica is reporting through multiple sources that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) will cancel this year's E3 trade show in Los Angeles.
The website was informed last night, and shortly after Ars was tipped off publisher Devolver tweeted: "Cancel your E3 Flights and hotels, y'all."
Later, Bloomberg ran a story that included that the official cancelation announcement from the ESA will happen today, March 11, at 9:30 a.m. Pacific according to "a person familiar with the matter."
Bloomberg is further reporting that the ESA has sent a private memo to partners that says it is considering holding E3 as an online event this summer.
If E3 is indeed canceled, it would be the latest domino to fall in a chain of events created by the coronavirus that has caused game delays, companies sending workers home, and the postponement of GDC from this month, among other disruptions.

Time Trials 2019 - Round 11 - Zancudo River Run

Something else a little bit different for this round. A mixture of road, track, dirt and a splash of water in Zancudo River Run. This track is a little longer than usual and locked to the Flash GT to make the most of it Off Road ability. The track is another one of JuniorChubbs, so again, all complaints can be directed to him.

MotoGP Race Night

Come and join us on Wednesday 27th November at 20:00 GMT for our MotoGP Race Night. The Van Society are hosting another night of racing using the best GTA Real Life Tracks from FR_Player-One's Real Life Tracks thread and the best from elsewhere on Social Club, this time round we will be racing bikes.
We will be running a team format, we will all be racing on the Bati 801 RR and there are 4 different liveries available for this bike. When you sign up you must select a team to race for. The available teams are Sprunk, Redwood, Stronzo and Cerveza Barracho, your livery on the night must match your team choice.
Racers are also expected to look the part too, either racing outfits or something that resembles racing leathers. all riders must have helmets enabled too.
After meeting up in free roam the first race of the night will be on the Top Gear Test Track, this will be as a test race so we can all make sure we have the correct bike, livery and outfits available and to check we all know how the grid system will work (each team will take it in turns to be at the front of the grid). This race will have no bearing on the final results.
From here we will race a number of User Created Jobs all based on real world circuits. We will start the night racing 'contact' but if poor racing etiquette is displayed, or if people start b*tching we will switch to non-contact or kick offending drivers.
We expect clean racing on the night (this is not a 'GTA Race' free for all) we all appreciate the tracks created and want to race around them, not play bumper cars. If you like to spin people out, try and squeeze two bikes into a corner that can only fit one or use other bikes as braking barriers do not sign up.
Also, there will also be no wheelies during the racing too. We are not looking for a race night where the first person to crack a wheelie after each corner wins the night.

We will be running a team format, we will all be racing on the Bati 801 RR and there are 4 different liveries available for this bike. When you sign up you must select a team to race for. The available teams are Sprunk, Redwood, Stronzo and Cerveza Barracho, your livery on the night must match your team choice.
Racers are also expected to look the part too, either racing outfits or something that resembles racing leathers. all riders must have helmets enabled too.
After meeting up in free roam the first race of the night will be on the Top Gear Test Track, this will be as a test race so we can all make sure we have the correct bike, livery and outfits available and to check we all know how the grid system will work (each team will take it in turns to be at the front of the grid). This race will have no bearing on the final results.
From here we will race a number of User Created Jobs all based on real world circuits. We will start the night racing 'contact' but if poor racing etiquette is displayed, or if people start b*tching we will switch to non-contact or kick offending drivers.
We expect clean racing on the night (this is not a 'GTA Race' free for all) we all appreciate the tracks created and want to race around them, not play bumper cars. If you like to spin people out, try and squeeze two bikes into a corner that can only fit one or use other bikes as braking barriers do not sign up.
Also, there will also be no wheelies during the racing too. We are not looking for a race night where the first person to crack a wheelie after each corner wins the night.

The next Survive the Hunt Night will be taking place on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at 21:00 GMT/UTC on PS4.
We will be running a 70's Cop Show theme...
Hunters
Hunters to wear brown/tan suits and moustaches (for male characters) and the most 70s hairstyle for female characters.
Hunters are to drive a fully modded 60s - 70s muscle car, here are the top 5 according to Broughy that are suitable for the night...
1. Sabre Turbo Custom - 01:06.866 lap time - 121.25 mph top speed - $505 000
2. Impaler - 1:08.436 lap time - 115.5 mph top speed - $331 835
3. Blade - 1:09.269 lap time - 109.75mph top speed - $160 000
4. Tulip - 1:09.572 lap time - 112.75mph top speed - $718 000
5. Dukes - 1:09.636 lap time - 112.5 mph top speed - $62 000 or FREE if you played on PS3
Paint the cars dark blue.
If we can't catch the hunted/have less than 10 hunters in the session, we may switch to the Armoured Schafter V12 or Armoured Kuruma again.
The Hunted
Target to wear overalls and a balaclava. We need the target to be somewhat noticeable, so I suggest a red jumpsuit and yellow balaclava to be more easy to spot. Target to start in a van, but can change to any car at any point after setting off.
