Crew Challenger 253 – XDBX 8th Anniversary
A 2 player team challenge with a slight difference for this one, all on the theme of the number 8.
One teammate gets 8 kills in free roam in the fastest time (rules apply, see below), the other teammate does time trial on Zmurko's Grapeseed Figure of 8, fastest lap in custom sports classics. To combine these points will be awarded in each event, 15 for 1st, 12 for 2nd, 10 for 3rd, 9 for 4th, 8,7,6 .. etc. So the team score will just be the points for each teammate added together. This does give us chance of a tie, but I think this is fairer then trying to combine the two times directly ion such different events...

Survive the Hunt 3
Come and join us in Survive the Hunt, where the aim is to... Well... survive the hunt! Wednesday 2nd of February 20:00 UK time starting from Vespucci Helipad.
What is Survive The Hunt?
Essentially, Survive The Hunt is a freeroam game mode where one player is "hunted" by 8+ other players. There is no radar, HUD or name-tags in order to make this a bit more interesting. While there is no set tactic, the most popular and effective one is for the hunted player to "blend in" with the game AI - either on foot or in a car. This means obeying traffic laws, following the road at an AI-ish pace, stopping at traffic lights etc. The hunters can employ a similar tactic to attempt to locate and then ambush the hunted player. Communication is essential for the hunters to work effectively together.

Rules:
Radar, player names & the HUD must be turned off.
All players must stay within the city limits at all times. This area is defined on the map below.
The hunted person has a two minute head-start on the hunters.
Weapons may NOT be used whilst in a vehicle. They can only be used on foot. The idea behind this is that it makes chases a bit more interesting than just head-shotting someone the second they're spotted.
Any type of explosive weapon is banned.
One helicopter is allowed to be used by the hunters. It cannot use any weapons and must not have missiles (to stop cheating using missile lock).
Any type of weaponized or special vehicle is banned as well as any Sports Classic quicker then the Savestra (Like the Retinue Mk II, Viseris & Turismo Classic), all Sports & Supers.
The hunted player may not camp or hide inside buildings, underground areas or in car parks.
They are allowed to briefly stop, but for no longer than a couple of minutes. This does not mean that they are not allowed to drive through road tunnels - they can, as long as they do not stay there for extended periods of time.
The hunted player should not be in the party or voice chat with the hunters.
New Rule 1: The host will give a specific location every few minutes. Time depended on the amount of people attending.
New Rule 2: The Hunted must wear very bright clothes. Preferably the green alien suit if attainable.

The first film of 2022 will be our second animated film, and that is Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira, nominated by @djw180.
An absolute landmark in the history of animation, Akira is a cyberpunk film about a biker gang getting involved in military experiments exploring the limits of telekinetic power. Incredibly detailed backgrounds of the towering, neon drenched Neo-Tokyo set the standard of what cyberpunk looks like and the soundtrack, a mixture of the traditional and the futuristic, perfectly sets the mood. And then there's the finale, which I'll leave you to experience for yourself. I only watched this recently but I'm glad for an excuse to re-watch it as this was a hell of a trip.

Crew Challenge 252 – Get Trucked
A two player team time trial in Trophy Trucks or Desert Raids. For this one both teammates can use the same vehicle if they like, since I think most people have the Trophy Truck rather than the Desert Raid and they are supposed to be pretty much identical performance wise. The track is locked to these plus the Liberator and Marshal. You're welcome to use any the monster trucks, but I don't think they will give the best lap times. As usual sign up now, semi-random teams will be drawn when we have enough players. Recent winning pairings to be excluded are Me and Rammstein (CC250) , Ally & Rammstein (CC246), Me & Skorp (CC244).
The tracks is Dodge's SST: Vespucci
Usual rules (other than no restriction on teammates cars)
Fastest lap
Any weather / time of day
Any number of laps / attempts
Non-contact if racing with others
No run ups
add up the two team-mate's times for the team total
Starts now

1979 Rallye De Paleto, Wed 12th January 8PM

The Annual Rallye De Paleto will be held this Wednesday 12th January.
Where is it?
Paleto Bay is a quaint little town in the North of Blaine County, San Andreas. It's Northwest of Paleto Forest and at the foot of Mount Chiliad. It's mixture of great shops and amusements as well as the Procopio Beach making it a great place to visit for the whole family.
What is it?
Set over 3 gruelling stages totalling more than 35miles the Rallye De Paleto promises to break cars as well as spirits as it winds through the Paleto Forest, Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, Raton Canyon, Cassidy Creek, the Alamo Sea, Mount Josiah and the Grand Señora Desert.
It's a multiclass event with cars and drivers from all over the country taking part and racing on the same course at the same time. Cars will be released in pairs at 30 second intervals with the slower cars at the beginning through to the faster cars near the end meaning everyone will converge near the finishing line in the heart of Paleto Bay for an epic finish of each stage.
There will also be a Special Spectator stage at the end with full contact on.

This is scaled down from last year to just 8 of the closest, and fastest cars.

The Winter Olympics start Feb 4, are you planning to watch? What are the events that you watch?
While I won't set time aside to watch any event, if I happen to catch the Luge to Bobsledding I will watch those, always figured I would like to try Luge but I figure those days are past me.
Certainly though, Curling is at the top of mine and @Dodgelist of events to see.

It's that time of year when snow comes to San Andreas so we do our traditional holidays crew challenge, a solo time trial in normal weather and the snow. This year in custom sports cars on Ally's Chaparral Ring Short (R).

We will start now, assume the snow arrives sometime this week, then it will finish at some point after the snow has gone, whatever gives us enough time to get times in snow and no-snow. So actual end date will be confirmed later, probably early in the New Year.

It's taken three years, but we're finally celebrating Christmas at the Film Club with Die Hard thanks to @TheFox2000unit's nomination.
Directed by John McTiernan (Predator, The Hunt for Red October, The Last Action Hero), Die Hard is a holiday classic about family, friendship and a terrorist takeover of a Los Angeles skyscraper. Bruce Willis stars as blue-collar New York cop John McClane, in town to visit his estranged wife and kids at Christmas. But soon after he goes to meet her at Nakatomi Plaza, the skyscraper in which she works, it is taken over by a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber, played by Alan Rickman in a fantastically hammy scene-stealing performance.
I don't think we'll get any argument over whether this is actually a Christmas movie here, because it is. It's at least Christmas adjacent, and is as much about the actual holiday as It's A Wonderful Life. This deserves to be ranked amongst the all time Christmas classics just for the awesome Run-DMC song Christmas in Hollis. I'm sure we've all seen this before, but I'm not gonna complain about having to re-watch one of the most entertaining action films ever made.

A two player team time trial in go karts. I don't know how many of us have customs and I'm not sure how much faster the customs are, so I am going to say CUSTOMS OFF for this one. Rather than each team mate using a different car there are two tracks. One teammate does the first, the other does the second. This month's film club selection comes from the filmography of Ethan and Joel Coen, as nominated by @djw180. The winning film is their lesser known 1991 thriller/comedy/noir film Barton Fink, selected by @Con.
Set in the early 40s, Barton Fink stars John Turturro as the titular character, a hot new playwright who goes to Hollywood to start working on movies. However, upon arriving he finds that he is being told what to write, and has to stay at the rundown Hotel Earle, which may in fact be hell. This film has a great, and terrifying, supporting turn from John Goodman as Charlie Meadows, his hotel neighbour, and smaller but memorable roles for the likes of Steve Buscemi and Tony Shalhoub.
A dark and sometimes surreal film, this has elements that remind me of Mulholland Drive, but with that distinctive Coen Brothers twist. This is actually my favourite film of theirs and need no excuse to watch it again.
