I guess this car topic is different from the rest,

I love hot cars, but hot pullin trucks get it for me

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Being out in the forest and hearing WRC cars on full chat does it for me. Unfortunately, like F1, the restrictions mean the spectacle and sound isn't what it used to be.......

......and it's difficult to explain how it used to be, the era of the Group B cars and drivers was mind blowing.

On board camera at WRC Wales Rally GB 2014:

As you can see, the Welsh forests are some of the most brutal stages on the WRC calendar and require a huge amount of driving skill (and luck) in order to even complete all of the stages.

I love cars! In my teens, I got into a lot of trouble with the law through driving, we used to buy cheap cars for around £50 (mostly steal them) and go up the forests for our own rally (drink, smoke etc). It wouldn't last too long as someone was guaranteed to mess the car up into a tree or roll it at some point, but it was a lot of fun to occasionally get chased by the forestry officers at 4AM in a clapped out 86' Ford Fiesta  :D.

Sir, I salute you !

I LOVE these cars with a passion ! The Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 GTI, Renault 5 Turbo, Lancia Delta Integrale, the Metro, the Rothmans's Porsche ... Absolute dream cars. My childhood/teen room was full of posters of these, together with the obligatory Countach =) If I'd have the money, there would be a road legal fully restored version in my garage in no time, especially the Lancia or the Audi.

Those were the days !

The cars were legal, the racing not so much =)

Still remember my first job, warehouse supervisor. Half of the time we were just waiting for trucks to show up, so we used that time to set up some races on the estate. It was located at the back end of an industrial estate with a big open tarmac/gravel/grass piece of ground. Needless to say we had some good fun at 2am in the morning, until the cops showed up ... ;)

Well, the Dakar Rally is currently happening in South America and it's my favorite motorsports event of the year so here's some of my favorite cars from that.

Mitsubishi Pajero Evoulution

Nissan Navara

BMW X-Raid

Toyota HiLux

Robby Gordon's Gordini

Peugeot 2008 DKR

There are many others over the years but these are my favorites, mostly from a purely aesthetical sense. The Minis look pretty good too.

Thank you Sir *returns salute*.

I've been active in the rally scene for many years (competed/organizing/running/spectating) and we'll never see the likes of those legendary cars and drivers again. I can't imagine too many childhood/teen rooms being covered with the current era of WRC car, although great to watch (I still marshal on the WRC Wales Rally GB and run other events) the DS3, Polo R, Fiesta RS, and i20 don't have the same magic.

A good friend of mine still competes in an Escort MKI and a 6R4, another is organising a Group B day later this year.

Edited to add my mates Metro 6R4 and Escort:

DC, you'll be please to see the Escort photo is from one of the greatest places for Rally....Wales.

Just a few photos at events I've helped to run recently.

The Escort is an earlier photo to the one in my previous post, in this photo a full rebuild and respray had just been completed.

The Audi Quattro and Lancia Stratos speak for themselves:

If it was a clear day you'd see Blackpool Tower in the background.... but it wasn't so you can't:
